Lets do this. . . Huntsville
Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010What?!?!?! I’m living where? In Huntsville, Alabama? In the south? Honestly, it’s taking awhile to sink in. This past two weeks has been in absolute whirlwind. Everything that has happened, I’ve had to live in the moment, and not even had a chance to think about it (I’m sure that all of the Jack Daniels I drank didn’t help much. I am now finally able to reflect on what has taken place in my life over 14 days. The Lincoln Exposed Show… THANK YOU. Thank you every single one of you who came to that show. From what I hear, that was one of the biggest crowds of the entire festival. It means the world to me that all of our friends came out and made our last show one that Jake, Andy, Daniel, and I will talk about for years to come. The after party was awesome as well!….from what I remember? It’s a 13 hour drive down to Huntsville. Therfore, I had some time to think. I realize that sometimes I don’t get to thank the people who need it the most. I was thinking about Josh Rice. How much work he has does on this website (by the way, Josh Rice Designed and runs website),and how supportive he has been from the absolute beginning. He is a dear friend, and Mole- I CAN’T THANK YOU ENOUH. Also, Laura, Randy, Jake, Cody, and Tommy. Your kindness and generosity have been so unreal to the fact that I wake up in the morning asking myself what I ever did to deserve this. Thank YOU.
Okay, So here’s what I’ve been up to lately. I got in about 12:30am or so on Sunday morning. After I got a good night’s rest, I decided to go check out the town. Try to find my way around, etc. This took me most of the afternoon. I also had to go to Wal-Mart. Which was extremely entertaining as usual.. especially in the South. So, I had to buy a new ironing board. I had in hanging out the front of my cart like a unicorn. and accidentally jabbed some dude in the back while I was in line. I thought I was going to get shanked. But he saw my Nebraska sweatshirt, and realized he better not screw with me. I got all of my recording gear set up that night, and have since been working on finishing the final vocal tracks for the new record. In the meantime, i’ve been keeping myself busy writing new songs, for the record after this new one. On Tuesday night, I went up to Chattanooga, TN for an open mic at a place called Tremont Tavern. Tremont was good to me, and I picked up a few new people for the mailing list. I plan on making it one of my monthly stops.
On Saturday morning, I headed down to Atlanta. This is so unreal to me. I’m only 3 and half hours from the ATL. My main intent was going down there and discussing my move, and my future plans with my lovely publicist Shirley, and her wonderful sister Georgia, who does our booking. We went on over to Eddie’s Attic (which is my favorite venue EVER!) to watch Willy Porter. I have never heard this dude, but wow, that dude can play and sing. Fantastic songwriter. After many Jack and Cokes we got back to the house, and crashed out. All in All a great start to a new beginning down here in the south. I’ll be hitting Nashville hard this next week. More on this later.
Josh
